Juracek Emerger

This pattern originated by John Juracek can probably be best described as a floating nymph.  Flies of this type can be very effective when trout are keying on emergers as opposed to duns,  a situation that is common during heavy hatches.  Use synthetic dubbing for the body.  The thorax is tied much fuller than the abdomen.  The fly should be dressed and fished as a dry fly.

Hook : Dry fly; #16, #18

Thread : Brown

Tail : Mallard flank

Abdomen : Sparse; dark brown or olive

Thorax : Heavy; dark brown or olive

Wing case : Dark gray foam
