EZ Caddis

Mike Lawson of Henry’s Fork Anglers developed this pattern to fish the difficult waters of the Railroad Ranch.  The white post makes this low floater visible to the angler during the low light of the evening.  Mike ties two color versions of this pattern, the tan described below and olive.  To tie the olive just substitute olive hare’s ear and zelon for the tan.  When tying the overwing place the partridge feathers one on top of the other with the dull sides down.  There is a lot of material which must go onto a small hook so tie everything sparse.

Hook  :             Dry fly, #14 – #18

Body  :             Natural Hare’s ear

Rib  :                Fine gold wire

Post  :              White calf body hair

Underwing  :  Tan zelon

Overwing  :     Brown partridge feather tips

Hackle  :          Grizzly, tied parachute

Thorax  :          Same as body
