Goober Caddis
This pattern by Kelly Galloup is highly regarded as one of the great caddis imitations. Although originally developed for use on slower water it works very well in faster rougher conditions due to its excellent floating capability. Note the tie in spot of the wing. It is at or just slightly forward of the mid-point of the hook shank. A small section of the thorax is then dubbed before the hackle tie in, the remainder of the thorax is dubbed then the hackle is wound forward, tied off and clipped on the bottom. Kelly also ties a Goober Midge which was featured as a previous Fly of the Month.
