Razor BWO
The guys at Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone, MT seem to come up with new fly patterns year after year. This year’s new patterns developed by Aaron Freed were called razor mayflies. The material used for the body of the flies are the reason for the name. The body is made from a material called razor foam. The foam comes packaged in two sizes, 0.5mm for flies #16 and smaller and 1mm for flies #14 and larger. The fly shown here is a Blue Winged Olive.
Hook – Dry fly #14 – 20
Thread – Olive 8/0
Tail – Dun coq de leon fibers
Body – Opaque olive razor foam
Wing – BWO trigger point fibers
Hackle – Medium dun (trimmed even with hook point)
