One of the most successful flies introduced in the past few years is the Purple Haze tied by Andy Carlson for use on the Bitterroot River area of Montana. The fly was basically an Adams parachute with a purple wonder wrap body. Fisherman who used this fly could not believe how effective this pattern was and the secret was out. In a previous FOM my version of the Purple Haze was illustrated. I use purple dubbing and a rib of pearl crystal flash and the pattern has proven it self in waters both out west and on many local streams. This is another fly using the proven fish catching ability of purple.
