One of the largest mayflies to emerge in our area is the Ephemera Guttulata, commonly known as the Green Drake. Just mention the phrase “Green drakes are on the water” and you’ll start a mad dash to any stream where they hatch. This fly has a” cult following” among many dry fly anglers.
Many of these anglers believe that this is the time to catch a large fish on top. Big trout are always on the prowl for this large mayfly and if you hit it right, usually around Memorial day, in our area you might just catch a trout of a lifetime.
