Many times a good caddis hatch can occur near dark when the fly can be difficult to see. This pattern uses Krystal Flash as part of the wing and post. The krystal flash seems to emit a glow in the fading light just before dark. This pattern is tyed in a parachute style allowing the body of the fly to float flush in the surface film making it easier for the trout to see; it may also suggest a spent caddis to the fish. Tie a piece of krystal flash at the rear of the hook then dub up to slightly less then the 1/3 point of the hook. Spiral the krystal flash up to this point and tie off. Next tie in several strands of krystal flash as an underwing extending slightly beyond the bend of the hook, do not cut off the krystal flash use the remaining material for the post. Tie in an overwing of fine deer or elk hair. Next use the krystal flash as a post. Tie in a brown hackle, finish dubbing up to the eye of the hook and tie the hackle parachute style.
