This simple pattern created by Ed Story, owner of FC Feathercraft in St. Louis, is very popular on the tailwaters of the Missouri and Arkansas. There are several methods of fishing the fly in addition to the standard dead drift. Cast across the current and let it drag, when the fly starts into the bend of the drag give it a sharp tug and pull under the surface. Let the line hang below you in the current for a count of twenty. Strikes most often occur just after the fly stops swinging. Fish also are attracted to a skating presentation.
